Mars' hill (Acts 17:22)
This eminence in the city of Athens is commonly called the Areopagus (literally "hill of Ares"). Ares, the Greek god of war, corresponded to Mars, the Roman war god. An Athenian court was also called Areopagus. Originally, and perhaps sometimes still in Paul's day, it held its meetings on this hill.
