It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science. The healing of a curvature of the spine taught me to rely wholeheartedly on God for healing. A support was being made for my back, and I am so grateful that it took five months for it to be made, for during that time I visited a practitioner every week. She was helping me to understand the truths of Christian Science, which I had just begun to study. But all the time I was thinking, "Oh, yes, it all sounds very wonderful, but I still have a curvature of the spine." I did not realize that in this way I was pinning the deformity more firmly in my thought, instead of freeing myself from it by acknowledging that man, the spiritual idea of God, could not possibly have anything He did not have.
When I went to the practitioner to tell her the support was ready for me to wear, she pointed out that I must take my stand on the side either of Spirit or of matter, and she referred me to these words in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy (p. 167): "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." I then decided to rely entirely on God; and although I had suffered from pain in my back all my life, it disappeared, as did the curvature.
The healing of a cyst on my neck took longer. I asked for treatment from a practitioner, and I knew that God would heal me. For six months I visited the practitioner regularly. Eventually she said, "I feel you have had your healing," although the manifestation was still there. A very short time after that the cyst had disappeared.
