Matterless Being
A fundamental teaching of Christian Science is that God is Spirit; therefore His image, man, is spiritual. Flesh is no part of this man. Man's spiritual status was conclusively proved by Christ Jesus, who, through Christly consciousness, ascended above the evidence of the physical senses.
Because God created us of the substance of Spirit, not flesh, we can exchange the material concept of ourselves for the divine fact that we are truly incorporeal, the embodiment of spiritual ideas functioning under the perfect control of God, Spirit. We can progress Spiritward only as we let go of material beliefs. To the physical senses, spiritual existence is an abstraction; but to spiritual sense, matterless, or spiritual, being is natural, harmonious, substantial, immortal. An awareness of our spiritual being has a transforming effect on our present sense of body and health.
