Let Us Be Doers

Students of Christian Science sometimes ask such questions as: "Why do I sway back and forth from spiritual inspiration to material sense? Why can't I abide in conscious unity with divine Principle, God? I know it is scientific to be steadfastly uplifted in thought."

In seeking the answer it is natural to go to the Bible and to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Christ Jesus tells us in the Sermon on the Mount: "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.... Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." Matt. 7:21, 24, 25;

Mrs. Eddy states: "When I wrote 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,' I little understood all that I indited; but when I practised its precepts, healing the sick and reforming the sinner, then I learned the truth of what I had written. It is of comparatively little importance what a man thinks or believes he knows; the good that a man does is the one thing needful and the sole proof of rightness."
