About forty-five years ago I was under a doctor's care for what he called chronic appendicitis. He wished to operate at once, but I refused to let him. He said he would try to pull me through but that in the case of another attack an operation would be imperative. He put me on a strict diet.

I knew very little about Christian Science, but I had heard that it claimed to heal disease. One evening a friend, whose daughter was a Christian Scientist, came to see me. I said to her as she was leaving, "Ask your daughter if she can't help me." The daughter did do prayerful work for me, and the next morning when I awakened I was free of pain. There was no fever, so I left my bed, went to breakfast, and ate what the family ate.

In due time I became a member of The Mother Church and a branch church, and there has been no recurrence of the disease.
