"Unto us a child is born"

In the Bible we read, "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, . . . The Prince of Peace." Isa. 9:6; When spiritually interpreted, this Scriptural passage signifies to awakened consciousness the incorporeal, eternal Christidea, the Son of God, as exemplified by the human Jesus.

The Scriptures reveal God as Spirit, Life, Truth. Proportionately as one rules out of human consciousness, through spiritual enlightenment, the false, human belief of man as mortal and material, he realizes the immortality of man as the forever perfect reflection, or expression, of Spirit. The real man is wholly spiritual, Godlike. In the true, spiritual record of creation the first command of God was, "Let there be light." Gen. 1:3; Christian Science teaches that the Christ is the true light, which reveals the real, spiritual individuality, identity, or selfhood, of every human being.

Mrs. Eddy writes, "When a new spiritual idea is borne to earth, the prophetic Scripture of Isaiah is renewedly fulfilled: 'Unto us a child is born, . . . and his name shall be called Wonderful.'" Science and Health, p. 109; The Christ is ever knocking at the door of consciousness seeking recognition. Through acceptance of and consecrated spiritual meditation on the Christ ideal, the divine Word of Truth, Life, and Love, we progressively purify and spiritualize human consciousness and bring it into rapport with the one infinite, divine consciousness, or Mind. Through enlightenment and understanding we see, know, and intelligently commune with God.
