I had the privilege of being reared by Christian Science parents. I attended a Christian Science Sunday School and later joined a branch church, where I enjoyed the many blessings of church activities. Later I joined The Mother Church. I married, and our three children had the blessed opportunity of attendance at Christian Science Sunday Schools. Now my grandchildren are having the same privilege.

As a very young child I had what was diagnosed as a punctured eardrum, with complications. I can remember a member of the family taking me to different Christian Science practitioners, but the error did not yield. When I was old enough to read with understanding, I worked with the definition of "ears" given to us in the Glossary of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The first part of it reads (p. 585), "Not organs of the so-called corporeal senses, but spiritual understanding." Then one day I asked a member of the family why I did not receive my freedom, and she simply said, "The work of Love has been done; you have only to accept it and be free."

Ten years later, after having had a wonderful week imparting the truths of Christian Science to members of my family who were stationed in Germany many miles from any Christian Science church, I was about my duties in the home. I suddenly stopped and said, "Why, of course, ears are spiritual understanding." I was healed that instant. How beautiful to see the light so clearly that I was freed! That healing occurred eight years ago, and I have had not the slightest difficulty with my ears since.
