A number of years ago my doctor told me I couldn't live more than two months. The disease was tuberculosis; and, having two young children to care for, I was deeply depressed. A dear sister gave me Christian Science periodicals and a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

At first I wouldn't even look at Science and Health but one day I started reading it. I could hardly lay it down. I read and prayed almost constantly for two days, just seeking to know if this were the truth. My husband was away working and, being very weak, I asked my three-year-old girl to go with me to gather the eggs.

We went, and soon she stepped on a board with a nail in it. The nail penetrated deeply into her foot. We started back to put something on to stop the bleeding, but as we went, my thought turned to what I had been reading in Science and Health. When we got to the house, there was not even a mark on the foot. Here was my answer! I knew that Christian Science was of God, and it was as if a bright light spread over me for several days. I tried to see a practitioner, but there was none near. I soon found I didn't need one, for I was completely healed. I have never had a return of the disease.
