The Water of Life

The purification of waterways is a prime consideration today. Polluted waters are the concern of every citizen. Yet more serious than this problem is the need to cleanse the human mentality of its impure thoughts.

Through various media the mental atmosphere is befouled by evil suggestions of vulgarity, sensualism, and various diseases just as the waters and the air are contaminated by noxious substances. Unless there is an awareness of the origin of tainted suggestions, they may be accepted as one's own thinking and allowed to produce deplorable results. Serious efforts must be made to purify the universal consciousness and eliminate the evil that is attempting to demoralize the human race.

Long ago the purifying power of God, Spirit, transformed the thought of a woman drawing water from a well in Samaria. Christ Jesus had paused there and asked her for a drink from the well. The woman expressed surprise that a Jew would have dealings with a Samaritan. The Master said to her, "If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water." John 4:10;
