My gratitude to Christian Science is beyond any words to express

My gratitude to Christian Science is beyond any words to express. It has met my every need for over twenty years. It has also sustained and healed our children and grandchildren. Our daughter was healed of a tubercular condition in her neck. She received Christian Science treatment, and we had a Christian Science nurse to care for her for a fortnight. However, because of legal requirements we also had to call in a doctor. On his second visit he looked at me, closed his bag, and said, "Continue the good work." This we did until the healing was complete.

My husband was headmaster of an orthodox church school, so I did not have an easy time when first I became interested in Christian Science. But when three doctors diagnosed a growth and said I should have an immediate operation, I turned unreservedly to Science. I always thank God for the support of my husband and the steadfastness of the practitioner who upheld me and insisted that I keep on teaching.

Each day I would come home and read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy all evening. Particularly helpful were these words referring to Jesus facing the scourge and the cross (p. 20): "Yet he swerved not, well knowing that to obey the divine order and trust God, saves retracing and traversing anew the path from sin to holiness." And I was strengthened by Paul's words (II Cor. 10:4), "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds." The practitioner and I also remember now that every day I tried to put one verse of the thirteenth chapter of I Corinthians into practice. By doing this I found my thought becoming more loving.
