Dating—on a Firm Foundation

[For young adults]

"Mom," said the young man, crawling out of his car, "can you please give me some help?" He was home on college vacation. However, one leg was so swollen that he could hardly walk. But he was expecting healing in Christian Science. His mother lent a hand with his gear, all the time silently and vigorously declaring that nothing can interrupt the harmony of man in God's likeness and that no power exists apart from God. By the next night, however, no change was apparent in the situation, despite their joint mental work. So they sat down together in the living room to talk it over.

"Now, look here," said his mother. "Nothing is hid which cannot be revealed and removed. What sort of false thinking do you suppose needs to be uncovered?"

"Well," he said, his thoughts slowly gathering momentum, "maybe it's this: most of the kids at school were having fun with drinking and smoking. We'd been hearing in Sunday School about not doing these things, so one of the girls in my class and I decided to find out why. I picked up some wine and some cigarettes one night and drove over for her, and we went out to experiment."
