Three years ago, a painful condition developed in my knees
Three years ago, a painful condition developed in my knees. I did not think much about it at first; but as time went on it began to be more painful, and it was hard for me to walk. I was studying the works of Mary Baker Eddy but seemed to get nowhere, and I became discouraged.
A Christian Scientist moved into the neighborhood, and we became fast friends. One day she called me and asked if I would come over and help her with a party she was giving. Not wanting to admit I couldn't walk, I managed to get over to her house laboriously. Standing on my feet for a long period of time to do my bit for her, I was in such pain that it was all I could do to walk home. My friend came home with me and stayed about an hour, reading to me from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Then she left.
The next morning she came over to my house and sat down. She said: "Now I am going to help you. Remember it took Jesus just three days to work himself out of the tomb." This was a rebuke to me, but I was so grateful I don't believe I even answered.
