I had always been interested in seeking for Truth, but it was through my father, who one day brought a Christian Science periodical into our home, that my curiosity was first roused about the relationship of Christianity and spiritual healing.
A very little understanding of Christian Science had proved a great protection during the Second World War in action in Italy and Africa. A short time after I came out of the Armed Forces, I decided to invest my savings in a small business venture.
This venture seemed at the time quite natural. I even mortgaged my home and put everything I had into the proposition. However, I did not seek Christian Science help over this decision, for at that time I did not believe or understand that Science could meet the human need in this particular instance. Although I was searching for Truth, I wanted it on my own terms; and although I prayed to know God, I was in ignorance about how and when His plan for me would be revealed.
