Some years ago a small package of matches became ignited and exploded in my hand. Immediately I declared: "It's a lie. Nothing has happened."
I was alone in the office; so I went back to my desk and for the next few minutes did some constructive thinking. I did not allow myself even to glance at my hand, and I declared over and over again that I would not accept the testimony of the material senses. I declared that God, the only Mind, knew nothing of any material sense testimony and that man, God's reflection, knew nothing of it either.
Then the suggestion followed: "You cannot use your hand today. Why, it will be too sore and stiff to use the typewriter!" I refused to accept these erroneous suggestions, knowing that the same law, the law of God, which annuls all so-called material laws, would annul the suggestion of stiffness because God, good, is the only cause and there can therefore be no ill effect of any kind. I used my hand constantly all day with no discomfort whatsoever.
