Two instantaneous healings very early in my study of Science showed me that Mrs. Eddy's writings are a precious gift in making the Bible practical in human experience.

One Wednesday I was preparing to attend the evening testimony meeting. While in the bath I suddenly became ill and was afraid of collapsing. These words from Matthew came to me swiftly (5:25): "Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him." Then words from Hymn No. 151 in the Christian Science Hymnal followed, "Thy presence healeth me." I was startled by such truths coming to me when I was so new a student of Christian Science, and I was immediately healed.

Not long after the foregoing experience, I learned that my resentment was the cause of the neuritis, rheumatism, and quinsy from which I had suffered many times prior to studying Christian Science. I saw that spiritualized thought and forgiveness must precede physical healing. "Father, forgive them" (Luck 23:34), I prayed for those who I felt had injured me. Through my prayers the resentment and these three ailments disappeared from my experience.
