Jehovah (Ex. 6:3)

(je-ho' va—c as in event, o as in old, a as in sofa). This name for Deity, constantly represented in the King James Version of the Old Testament by "Lord," often had a national or sometimes even a tribal significance among the Hebrew people. Most scholars feel that the original form of the word was "Yahweh" (ya'we—a as in arm, e as in end).
