Having been blessed with a dear parent who was a student of Christian Science and having felt the goodness which he radiated, I finally turned to this religion for the solution of my problems, which were many.

I started attending services regularly at a Church of Christ, Scientist, enrolled my little daughter in the Sunday School, and began to study seriously the Christian Silence Quarterly Lesson-Sermons from the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy each day. But for several years I could not break away from my social life and old friends. Then the desire to become a member of the branch church I was attending and also of The Mother Church led me to do some serious thinking about more constructive ways of living. The smoking and social drinking habits would have to go. I was ready and willing to be healed of them.

The social drinking was no problem, but the smoking seemed more tenacious. The decision to stop smoking was reached just before I was to leave on a two-week vacation, and I thought this would be a good test of my sincerity. I was completely healed of both habits, and it was a glorious vacation.
