"The more practical import"

[Of Special Interest to Young Men and Women]

One of the great demands of this age of scientific and technical growth is that knowledge be used to accomplish a meaningful end. In every field of endeavor, whether it be the scientific, the industrial, or the artistic, a system, if it is to survive, must be a practical one.

Our Master, Christ Jesus, expressed Truth in practical ways: he fed the multitudes and healed the sick as a result of direct application of divine law to meet the immediate need. His purposeful mission was perhaps best expressed in his own words (John 10:10): "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Mrs. Eddy, throughout her writings, emphasizes the importance of demonstration. She states in the Preface of Science and Health: (pp vii, viii), "Since the author's discovery of the might of Truth in the treatment of disease as well as of sin, her system has been fully tested and has not been found wanting; but to reach the heights of Christian Science, man must live in obedience to its divine Principle." As followers of our revered Leader we must follow her example and think and live more productively.
