Letting in the Light of Truth and Love
"I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). In this saying Jesus indicated that the healing Christ, Truth, which he exemplified in his ministry, is present throughout all time to illumine and transform the thought of men.
When we raise our window shades in the morning, the light streams in, displacing the darkness. So as we let the light of Truth and Love enter our thought through the daily study of Christian Science and through truthful affirmation and prayer, the dark, dismal beliefs of material sense disappear, since there is no room for them in the spiritually illumined consciousness.
Often a firm, positive acknowledgment of man's spiritual perfection as God's likeness results in immediate healing. At other times one may have to affirm and reaffirm the spiritual facts applicable to a discordant situation before one's thought is sufficiently illumined to relinquish the belief in the reality and presence of error.
