The Christian Scientist's Stand
Insofar as one is a Christian Scientist he does his best to stand for what is right. The position he takes on social, political, or economic issues represents his best efforts in applying the moral law and in seeking divine guidance to attain clearer views. But insofar as one is a Christian Scientist, he knows that his opinions on human issues are always subject to revision.
His goal is ascension—absolute identification with the divine Mind as that Mind's spiritual idea. This oneness, or unity, with God, the Principle of all being, is the reality which he seeks to demonstrate in his daily life. The spiritual truth appears to him as he discerns the qualities of man's real being and lives them. Reality is the present truth of man in God's likeness. Demonstration comes through honest effort.
The Christian Scientist's stand is one of humility, it is one of confidence in divine Mind, but of distrust in human opinions, especially one's own. Such humility serves to turn thought to higher solutions—above the temporal to the spiritual. This ensures human progress.
