The Mother Church Radio Programs

Several times each month the Committee on Publication's recording studio on the top floor of the Christian Science Publishing House in Boston, Massachusetts, is the setting for several hours of spontaneous discussion aimed at spreading abroad a better understanding of our religion. A non-Scientist interviewer, willing to ask questions in behalf of the stranger to Christian Science, and a Scientist speaker, eager to provide answers in everyday language, discuss the application of Bible teachings, understood in the light of Christian Science, to problems of daily living. The resulting programs provide the naturalness and directness of a conversation between two people, carried into millions of homes through the medium of radio.

The recording session is under the supervision of the office of Manager of Committees on Publication. There is no formal script, no formal rehearsal. Participants are kept on the topic under discussion by a brief outline, but each participant is encouraged to express himself freely. Later, through tape editing, the most significant portions of each recording session are condensed to become another program in the series, "The Bible Speaks to You."

The aim of this project is not to convert the interviewers but to make the best use of their willingness to help the Scientist speakers explain Christian Science in language the average listener can understand.
