"An active portion
of one stupendous whole"
In "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," Mrs. Eddy states, "As an active portion of one stupendous whole, goodness identifies man with universal good" (p. 165). The following experiences of two branch churches illustrate how each branch of The Mother Church is "an active portion of one, stupendous whole" in its relation to our movement.
From San Diego, California, a branch writes:
"During the past few years our church has been steadily proving that none of the negative aspects of smallness belong to us. In order to show visible signs of progress it was necessary for us to recognize that progress does not depend on the number of members or the amount of funds, for progress depends solely on right ideas put to use.
