Loving—Not Wishing
[Of Special Interest to Children]
David wanted a dog. He wanted a dog so much that the first thing he did every evening when the local newspaper came was to stretch it out on the floor and search through the "Pets for Sale" advertisements!
What a disappointment David felt as he searched the paper night after night. Small dogs were so expensive! They cost much more than the family-could could spend. But it had to be a small dog that would be content to stay in the house most of the time.
One day when David was telling his mother how much he wished he had a dog, she quietly asked God to show her how to help David. She knew that David had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School that God is good. He gives us only good thoughts. Wishing, wanting, unhappy thoughts do not come from God, Truth, so they are error. They would try to make us believe that God is not always present and giving us everything good.
