My mother's healing through...
My mother's healing through Christian Science of nervous prostration, after a doctor had told her he could do nothing more for her, brought the beneficent blessings of its teachings into our family while we were still children. And from that time, despite severe trials, my mother's faith remained steadfast.
One of my first healings was that of warts on my hands. Wishing to encourage me to apply the truths of Christian Science myself, Mother left the healing work to me. Who can fathom the spiritual power inherent in the guileless thought of a child? How I made my approach to God. I do not recall; but I do know that my fingers were soon smooth. My gratitude must have been great, for I arose one Wednesday evening at a testimony meeting and testified to the demonstration, saying in conclusion, "I know that Love did it."
Some years later we moved into central Minnesota, living in a log house in the wilderness. Money was scarce, but we had the Bible, together with a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and I cannot recall ever being without the Sentinel.
