Man Is the Idea of God
[Of Special Interest to Young Men and Women]
In the first chapter of Genesis we read: "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.... And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Truly to understand these words is to demonstrate man's present perfection in our daily lives.
In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 475): "Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique. He is the compound idea of God, including all right ideas." What joy it is to say to ourselves, "I am the idea of God; I am the image of Love"! Greater still is the joy of knowing that everyone can claim this truth for himself.
With these thoughts in mind, how can we feel any resentment against, dislike of, or bitterness toward people when we meet them, or how can they feel bitter towards us? God's ideas are incapable of bitterness or resentment. We can appreciate only the beauty, grace, and splendor of these ideas. We can feel only the love which they must express, for ideas are expressions of God, and God is Love.
