Raisins in Our Daily Bread
Divine Love has many tender lessons for spiritually-minded parents in the problems—yes, and in the laughter—that come with the care and training of young children.
I remember one such lesson that grew from an amusing incident which occurred when my eldest child was between two and three years of age. She wanted to learn the "Sunday School prayer" —the Lord's Prayer, which Jesus taught his disciples (see Matt. 6:9–13) and which is taught the children in Sunday School. So we began to say this prayer each evening before she went to sleep.
For several nights she carefully repeated each phrase after me, with much appreciation and enjoyment. Then, one evening, her baby voice continued after completing the phrase I had just given her—"Give us this day our daily bread." My amusement taxed my self-control as I heard her say, "Give us this day our daily bwead—wif some waisins in it."
