In the book of Malachi we read...

In the book of Malachi we read (3: 10), "Prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." My husband and I can witness to the fulfilling of this promise.

On New Year's Day, 1963, my husband and I were forced into the hospital with frostbitten feet. Our farmhouse had burned in the early morning hours during a blizzard. When my husband had called the fire department, we were told that all roads were blocked, and help could not reach us. Dressed only in night clothes and jackets, with the temperature well below zero, we had to walk about a half mile to the homes of neighbors.

Help was about twelve hours in coming, and we used this time trying to remember and repeat the well-loved truths we had learned in Christian Science. On page vii of the Preface of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." We clung to this statement as well as to the twenty-third and ninety-first Psalms. Our home, belongings, crop, equipment, and livelihood were gone; we had no near relatives and no money; the future looked dim.
