I had been acquainted with the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, only four months when, in a moment in which he was not being watched, our youngest child, who was two and a half, drank some boiling milk and scalded his esophagus. As I ran to him lie coughed up much mucous membrane, and then lay motionless in my arms. It seemed to me that from the human point of view there was no help, and the thought did not come to me, therefore, to go for a doctor.

At that instant I knew that only God Could help here. I was alone; I put the child to bed and picked up the Bible and the textbook and became absorbed in them. After I had read for about half an hour, I was called back to the present by the child's crying. But my thought was so filled with divine Love that the error had no power in my consciousness. The fear had been arrested and vanquished.

There followed a difficult night for the child in which I had to watch and pray, but the next evening he was completely well. I should like to emphasize that this healing was brought about solely through my reading of the Bible and Science and Health.
