Christ's Eternal Coming

Christian Scientists love Christmas because they see its true meaning to be the eternal coming, the forever appearing, of the Christ-idea to the world through the revelation of Truth.

In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy makes it plain that the Christ has always existed, now and forever. She says (p. 333), "Abraham, Jacob, Moses, and the prophets caught glorious glimpses of the Messiah, or Christ, which baptized these seers in the divine nature, the essence of Love." To have the Christ come to us so that we feel baptized in the all-pervading "essence of Love" is a glorifying experience in which the human yields to the divine. And when we acknowledge that the Christ, Truth, is ours eternally, we begin to express God's qualities in every detail of our lives.

The Christ comes to us right where we are to solve our problems. Mrs. Eddy defines "Christ" in Science and Health as (p. 583), "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error." The Christ regenerates human consciousness wherever its power and presence are welcomed and valued.
