"If ...thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul" (Deut. 4:29). My heart overflows with gratitude that Christian Science has supplied me with a practical and ever-unfolding understanding of God and through this understanding has brought peace, happiness, and healing into my experience.

I had always searched the Bible for the truth of God and had poured questions into the ears of Sunday School teachers of orthodox churches, questioned friends, and quietly prayed for understanding, but I felt very far from an ever-present, all-loving God. As I grew into young womanhood and married, I became in turn a member of several different religions, but there was no answer to my inquiring thought.

The turmoil within grew increasingly worse until I found myself wondering why I was here to begin with, what my purpose was, and what life was all about anyway. I prayed daily to an unknown God for an answer but grew more and more disturbed until I found myself approaching a nervous breakdown. My husband and I had a young son by this time, and I knew peace must be found so that I could care for our home and family.
