Parents, Teen-agers, and Self-government

The problems of teen-agers and their parents are human. They arise from the belief in material life, including material birth, maturity, and eventual death. Christian Science teaches us to solve human problems by applying to the mental picture in human consciousness the truths of God and man. In this way we overcome the material, for matter is unreal. As a result the true spiritual nature of each individual as God's reflection appears.

God is infinite Mind, Principle, Love. His sons and daughters are spiritual ideas. They reflect divine intelligence, spiritual order, immortal love in all that they do. Their activities have a spiritual purpose. Their individualities are pure expressions of holy perfection.

On page 14 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy says: "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak 'as one having authority.'"
