The Spreading Branches of The Mother Church
Mrs. Eddy expected the Christian Science movement to reach all mankind with the blessings of the Christ, Truth. She herself saw the spread of our church to the far corners of the globe. This evangelizing activity is going on today as it was when she was personally with us.
In widely separated areas earnest groups of Christian Scientists are meeting and holding church services with quiet enthusiasm and in grateful obedience to the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy. It is encouraging to find these groups growing in attendance and Mother Church membership, serving increasingly their respective communities, and, to the extent that they qualify, receiving recognition as branches of The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts.
Several years ago an informal group in a city in the Far East started holding Sunday services in a YMCA compound where it had obtained suitable quarters for this purpose. Monthly Wednesday evening testimony meetings were also held. Even though experiencing frequent changes of personnel, the group faithfully carried on its church activities, including Sunday School, literature distribution, and the giving of Christian Science lectures.
