About forty-five years ago, upon the recommendation of a friend, I tried Christian Science for a bronchial condition and was healed in one treatment. After our daughter was born, I was left with an afterbirth condition and was suffering from hemorrhoids. Reluctant to go to a physician, I remembered my first healing in Science; and again I went to the same practitioner and was healed in one treatment.

While all this seemed quite wonderful to me, I did not delve deeper to find out what had healed me. Only after three years, when I had reached the point at which I could say, "My heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God" (Ps. 84:2), was I led to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After I had finished the book, I found myself healed of insomnia, chronic constipation, and fear for the welfare of our child. A new, worthwhile purpose in life began to dawn on me. The various healings that followed lighted my journey Soulward.

When our daughter was about ten years old, she suffered from weak ankles. This painful condition grew steadily worse. One day she came home from school crying, hardly able to walk. I put my arm around her, led her to a couch, and made her comfortable. I was still uplifted from having read a lecture in The Christian Science Monitor: so I asked her if she would like me to read part of the lecture to her. She gladly consented, and I had read a good portion of it when she finally fell asleep. I was preparing supper when suddenly she cried: "Mama, come here! I can walk, dance, jump; no more pain whatsoever!"
