My mother and aunt first heard of Christian Science in 1894. They were in their teens, living in Arkansas, where they read a notice in a newspaper that a new religion discovered and founded by a New England woman, Mrs. Eddy, was a religion that obeyed the command of the Master, Christ Jesus, to "heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils" (Matt. 10:8). This made a deep impression on them because there was such a need of healing in their home; but they learned nothing more of Science until in 1904, after moving to Oklahoma, my aunt met a practitioner, who explained the truths of her religion. As a result of this visit my aunt received her first healing.

My mother began the study of Science at the same time. One healing she had was that of a severe mastoid difficulty. A practitioner was asked to give treatment. In less than a week the ear was healed, except for deafness. The practitioner continued to work, and in a few days the ear was normal. In the spring of 1927 my aunt was healed of a tumor.

I have been healed of colds, influenza when there seemed to be no hope of recovery, deafness, and an infection of the eyes. In 1955 I was healed of paralysis of my entire body in two hours In' my own understanding of Christian Science. The twenty-third and ninety-first Psalms were a great help in understanding man as actually spiritual and not material. Many statements from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy were inspiring. I had a restful sleep and was up in a few hours and had a busy day at my work.
