A few years ago my husband...
A few years ago my husband and I were involved in a motor accident.
I shall always be grateful for the first words which my husband said to me. They were, '"Before I go for help, let us have one thing clear: no accident has happened to God's ideas." This thought took away all fear, and what happened afterwards did not seem to belong to me. I felt quite apart from it all.
I could not avoid being taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, and X-ray photographs were taken. Later I was told that my spine was fractured, and I must lie flat on a board for six weeks. The doctor said it was quite impossible for me to walk. However, when I asked to go home, I was allowed to go and a written description of my injuries was given to me to hand to a doctor as soon as I arrived there. A taxi was ordered, and I was carried to it on a stretcher and lifted onto the back seat. We then began the journey of fifty miles to our home.
