Jane Finds a Way
[Of Special Interest to Juniors]
Jane loved Christian Science. She remembered the time when she and her family had not known much about it. They had just thought of it as another church, and they had always gone to their own church. Then Jane had an accident, and she didn't get well. Finally a Christian Science practitioner was asked to pray for her, and the pain went away. No wonder Jane loved Christian Science!
She loved the Bible stories. One of her favorites, the healing of the lame man, is told in the third chapter of the book of Acts: "A certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple. ... Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. ... And he leaping up stood, and walked."
One day Jane was reading "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mrs. Eddy, and she found this sentence on pages 369 and 370: "We crave the privilege of saying to the sick, when their feebleness calls for help, 'Rise and walk."'
