I shall always be grateful for...

I shall always be grateful for loving, Christian parents, who were active workers in the church of their choice. Still, all the love and care surrounding my childhood did not prevent my experiencing a constant succession of illnesses until, when I reached the late teens, my parents and I decided I should take a nurse's training and in this way, perhaps, not only serve others but learn how to take care of myself. This, however, was not the case, for during my training period I suffered many diseases and had two operations.

After my marriage, my husband and I moved to another country, and it was here we were introduced to Christian Science at a time when we both were ill and unhappy. After attending church services for some time and reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, we recognized that Science was indeed the way of Life, which offered a happy, full, complete life.

It did not take very long for many of our problems and our ill health to disappear as we gained an understanding of man's true status as a child of God, perfect, harmonious, and free. The healings which took place included those of a bad temper, selfishness, and incompatibility. As I learned to turn away from self and to love more, as I placed both of us, my husband and myself, where we truly abode—in Truth—all three difficulties disappeared, not overnight, but through continued, consecrated, and persistent spiritual knowing and loving.
