I should like to express my gratitude...

I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science. It is the only religion I have known. Our family has had too many healings to list here, but I should like to mention a couple of them.

During World War II when we were stationed at an Air Force base in Texas, an Air Force doctor, whom we were required to call in, examined our two-year-old son and stated that he had pneumonia and scarlet fever and that if he was not placed in a hospital immediately, he could not live.

With the help of a practitioner in the nearest city, forty miles away, and without any medical aid, the child was healed and outside playing in three days. Up to that time I had never studied as hard as I did then. Day and night my husband and I turned to the Bible and to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to learn more of God. How grateful we were to see that confidence in Him brings freedom!

At another time our other son fell while at school, striking his head. We were summoned to the school. The athletic director believed that the boy was suffering from concussion, and we were criticized for not calling an ambulance and taking him to the hospital. We had called a practitioner, and, using our increased understanding of God, we knew that nothing harmful had actually happened to the real image and likeness of God. This was about three o'clock in the afternoon.

We took him home; he slept for a couple of hours and woke up perfectly healed. He ate his dinner, did his homework, and after a good night's sleep was in school at the regular time the following morning. Once more we had proved the healing power of God.

I am grateful for all the activities of The Mother Church and its branch churches. I am also grateful for class instruction and our inspirational yearly association meeting.—(Mrs.) Betty Jane Gaubatz, Indianapolis, Indiana.
