Church Dedications
Surrey Herald
Claygate, Surrey, England (First Church).
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Claygate, will dedicate its church building at 45 Hare Lane, next Sunday, October 6. There will be three services, at 11 a.m., and 3 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
The history of this branch church dates back to the autumn of 1950, when a small group of Christian Scientists met in Claygate to consider the possibility of holding services and a Sunday School in this district. At first, services were held in private homes, but by Easter, 1951, a move had been made to the vacant Swedenborgian church at 45 Hare Lane, where the growing congregation could be better accommodated. From then onwards Wednesday evening testimony meetings were held regularly.
