Warfare in Heaven
Memorial Day in the United States provides the occasion to commemorate the lives of those whose sacrifices in the military service of their country have contributed greatly to the freedom which people of many countries continue to enjoy. Such periods of commemoration bring forcibly to our attention the fact that we shall pay our debt to these men only when we are able to remove the possibilities of future wars.
Aggressive warfare is incubated in a mental atmosphere that is deficient in moral and spiritual values. For this reason the mental atmosphere in which peace can be maintained will have to be one that is established through a correct understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him, the understanding of God's government of man, which Christ Jesus brought to the world. This spiritual understanding will bring men into accord with divine law. This law alone is capable of drawing people and nations together to their mutual advantage.
Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 467): "It should be thoroughly understood that all men have one Mind, one God and Father, one Life, Truth, and Love. Mankind will become perfect in proportion as this fact becomes apparent, war will cease and the true brotherhood of man will be established."
