Christian Science had been in...

Christian Science had been in our home as long as I can remember, and I attended a Christian Science Sunday School; but during my time at college, and in the years following, I did not really work very hard at my study of it. I read, but did not put it into practice. There seemed to be much resentment, envy, jealousy, self-will, self-pity, and materiality that needed to be overcome in my thinking.

After college I married a man who was very kind and moral and whose goals were very worthy, but I soon found there was a great difference in our methods of attaining them. I knew I could not classify myself as a Christian Scientist without being a better example, and I also knew I could never expect my husband to accept and respect Science unless there was more definite proof of its worth on my part. At this time I turned to a practitioner for help, and for several months we worked together. Our prayers resulted in some wonderful proofs of the fact that "all things work together for good to them that love God" (Rom.: 28). In the following two years there was slow but definite improvement in my thinking as I turned wholeheartedly back to my study.

One day I was preparing some ground for a garden, and during the night I awoke to find my whole body swollen and my face misshapen with ivy poisoning. I was very fearful, but the help of a practitioner was immediately sought and given.
