Four years ago I was anxiously reading the testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, trying to convince myself that Christian Science really does heal. I am now writing this testimony with the deep desire that I may help to convince someone else of the healing power of God.

For a period of ten years I had suffered from a recurrent back condition which had been diagnosed by several bone specialists as a ruptured spinal disk. I was told that an operation might bring improvement, but that there was no guarantee. I therefore resigned myself to living with the condition, or, perhaps I should say, living around the condition, because my life revolved around what I could and could not do because of it.

After a particularly severe attack accompanied by constant pain which lasted for months, I became extremely depressed. As a last resort before risking an operation, I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. Although my mother had been a very devout Christian Scientist and I had attended a Christian Science Sunday School as a child, upon reaching adulthood I drifted very far from its teachings.
