While working as an electrician...
While working as an electrician in a mine, I was repairing some signals on the side of the roadway, along which ran a railway line. There were only about twelve inches between the railway and the side of the road. While I was busy a man started a train of coal down a steep incline towards me. I was caught between the trucks and the side of the road and was rolled along the wall for some distance until I fell into a refuge hole in the wall.
Both my legs were badly hurt and appeared useless. I could not move, but lay there declaring the truths of God and man which our revered Leader has taught us. After a while I began to move my legs a little and was able to make my way to the shaft and was conveyed home.
A practitioner was called, and she gave me treatment immediately. At first, I felt a decided improvement; but after that my progress was very slow, and I could not at first think why. I was doing my work. The practitioner was doing her work. Then, on examining my thinking, I found that I was still blaming the man who had started that train. The thought then came, "God is the only cause." We are told on page 207 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "There is but one primal cause. Therefore there can be no effect from any other cause, and there can be no reality in aught which does not proceed from this great and only cause." Healing followed very quickly, and I was soon back at work.
