Signs of the Times

Earl L. Douglass, Columnist of "Strength for the Day" in The Butler Eagle Butler, Pennsylvania

Our country has certain laws by which we are governed. We all admit this. ... What most people fail to realize is that law also obtains in the moral and spiritual world. There are certain things that are wrong and there are certain things that are right. ...

There is an unseen spiritual order in which law and principle prevail to an even greater extent than they do in the field of government. We break the law of God and we get something worse than a ticket, or a fine, or a jail sentence. We may not be conscious of the fact that we have been apprehended at all, or that we are being disciplined and punished, but we live in a moral universe in which we can get away with nothing. ... We cannot squirm out of the moral consequences of any evil we practice.
