WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST

[The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly designated to be read in Christian Science churches on December 22, 1963.]

He hath made a decree which shall not pass (Ps. 148:6)

The word which is translated "decree" can also mean boundary, or limit; while the literal meaning of the verb rendered "pass" is to pass over. Presupposing a very slight change in the form of the Hebrew verb, Moffatt renders. "He set them boundaries they should never pass." Smith prefers, "He gave a statute that they should not transgress."

Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me (Isa. 45:11)
