Some time ago a swelling appeared on the back of my neck and in a day or two started to discharge. This continued for a week or two, during which time I was prayerfully applying the truths of Christian Science; then suddenly it formed into a large, hard lump. For a second I was tempted to feel discouraged, but quickly these words came to me from the Scriptures (Hebr. 4: 12): "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword."

My friend, who was washing the wound for me each evening, affirmed these words with me, and we went to bed. In the morning when I awoke it was found that the lump had opened and discharged during the night, and I had not even been conscious of it.

A week later a hard lump again formed, but this time I was serenely confident. My friend and I sat quietly in prayer; then we talked of the love of God and tried to realize that in truth the only operation is the operation of divine Love in human consciousness and that Love never fails.
