It is with an ever-increasing sense...
It is with an ever-increasing sense of gratitude for Christian Science and appreciation of our Leader that I wish to testify to the many blessings that have come into my experience through the application of Science.
Several years ago, while a student at boarding school, I experienced acute pain in the abdomen. I could not eat or sleep; and since I was unable to walk around freely, I went to bed. Although the pain did not last long, it recurred several times over a period of months until I decided that, as a student of Christian Science, I must see the condition healed.
One night I awoke with the pain I had felt before and also a tremendous sense of fear. Because I did not wish to disturb the five or six other girls in the room, I reached out in the dark to the table on which was the Bible together with Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. By the light of a torch beneath the bedclothes, I saw that the book I had opened was not the textbook but a copy of Poetical Works. The poem by Mrs. Eddy to which I had turned was entitled "Come Thou," and it was unfamiliar to me at that time.
