A Better Body

Who would not like to have a body that cannot be touched by disease? Christian Science shows that we can gain such a body through renewal of thought. But renewal does not come all at once. It comes by degrees through daily practice of the rules of Christian Science, daily growth in understanding of spiritual reality, and daily overcoming of belief in matter as having substance or life or truth.

Overcoming a suggestion of disease by an understanding of Truth does more than prevent or heal a diseased condition. It renews the body. It replaces in some degree the destructible with the indestructible.

Spirit, God, is infinite substance. He is All. Matter is a false concept of substance. It is destructible, an illusion of mortal mind. It does not exist in the divine Mind, and all its conditions are illusions. Matter, therefore, cannot be sick; it has no health to lose. Matter cannot deteriorate; it has no structure to break down. Matter cannot die; it has no life to bring to an end. Substance, structure, life, belong to Spirit.
