This testimony expresses my gratitude for a healing I experienced. Christian Science came to me when I was sick, miserable, and fearful. About three years ago I had severe pains in my back and consulted a doctor. After having me X-rayed, the doctor diagnosed a slipped disk. Only an operation could help me, he said; and after the operation they would have to put me in a plaster cast for several months.

I was so afraid when I heard this that I could not decide whether I should have the operation or not; so I asked for a little time to think it over. The doctor warned me not to wait too long because the condition could become suddenly worse.

A relative of mine, a Christian Scientist, heard about my sickness; and when she came to visit me, she brought some Christian Science literature with her. I started to read The Herald of Christian Science and afterwards "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Although I did not understand all of it, one thing was very clear to me: Christian Science teaches us that God is Love and that there is no power besides God, Love. The knowledge of God's love, His all-power and ever-presence, gave me such a sense of security and peace that my fear of the doctor's prediction was gone, and I tried to walk again.
