A College Student Writes
Keeping Our Motives Honest
For many individuals the experience of attending a college or university provides opportunities and challenges never before encountered. For students of Christian Science these encounters should provide opportunities for spiritual growth in understanding.
The Scientist at college may be surrounded by those who express a desire merely for high grades or those who, on the other hand, are afraid of failure. And other expressions of mortal mind based on erroneous motives may enter in. The desire for purely personal gains must be distinguished from the desire to express more fully the faculties and qualities of divine Mind.
The student of Christian Science will soon realize that he cannot honestly practice his understanding of the truth unless he constantly and consistently rejects all motives not originating in divine Mind. He must keep his thinking clear and not accept erroneous concepts and attitudes as his basis of action.
